Technical Track

Publication

The proceedings of the TICEC 2026 Technical Track will be published in a dedicated volume of the journal RTE ESPOL, a recognized publication indexed in databases such as DOAJ, Latindex, Google Scholar, Crossref, among others, ensuring high visibility and access for the academic community.

Submission and review process

Each submitted paper will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, in which its originality, research depth, accuracy, relevance to the conference topics, and clarity will be assessed.

IMPORTANT:

  • Create an RTE account to submit your manuscript.
  • Do not forget to include in your message to the editor that your paper is intended for TICEC.

Prepare your paper

To ensure consistency and quality in manuscript presentation, carefully follow the guidelines below, also detailed in the Word Template file available for writing the paper:

Authorship information: Include full first and last names, institutional affiliation, ORCID, and institutional email address (personal emails are not allowed).

Number of authors: A maximum of five authors per paper is allowed.

Title: Must be provided in Spanish and English, using title case, with a limit of 15 words. Use Times New Roman, 16 pt, bold (follow the template).

Abstract: Written as a single paragraph, it must indicate the topic, objective, key points, and conclusions. It must not exceed 250 words and must be provided in Spanish and English (Abstract).

Keywords: Include five to six words or phrases, in alphabetical order, the first with an initial capital letter and the rest in lowercase, separated by commas (,), and not mentioned in the title or subtitle. Include them in Spanish and English (Keywords). These are used for the paper’s thematic classification.

Paper body: The paper body must follow an IMRD structure (Introduction, Methodology, Results, and Discussion), followed by Conclusions and References.

Figures and tables: Tables, images, and figures must be numbered and referenced before insertion. All figures must have a definition above 300 dpi.

Funding: Declare any funding related to the work, if applicable.

Formatting: Pages must be numbered, single-spaced, using Times New Roman 12 pt (follow the template).

Length: The length must be between 5,000 and 8,000 words.

Language: Papers may be written in English or Spanish.

Citations: APA format, 7th edition.

Ethical compliance: Authors must know and respect the publication’s Code of Ethics and Good Practices.

Do not forget to include in your message to the editor that your paper is intended for TICEC.

As part of the submission process, authors must verify that their work complies with all points in the checklist below. Proposals that do not follow these rules will be returned to the authors:

  • The submission has not been previously published and is not under evaluation by another journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
  • The file is in Microsoft Word format.
  • URLs have been included in the references when possible.
  • The text follows the provided template.
  • The text meets the bibliographic and style requirements described in the Author Guidelines.

Each paper will be evaluated by at least three regular members of the Program Committee or two senior members of the Steering Committee. Evaluation criteria include:

Originality: The paper must present new ideas, projects, or problems, offer new perspectives on existing research, introduce new lines of research, or propose innovative approaches to existing information.

Engagement: The paper presentation should be engaging for the audience and have strong potential to capture the interest of conference attendees, responding to the community’s needs.

Significance: It must address key topics that contribute to improving the effectiveness and/or sustainability of open education, ensuring the content is easy to disseminate and understand.

Quality: Claims must be supported by appropriate data, references to relevant literature, and an honest presentation of the study limitations.

Clarity: Objectives and expected results must be defined in a clear and understandable manner.

Relevance: The work must directly address one or more of the conference topics.

Transparency: Any paper that presents a new tool, a framework, or research data must include the respective repositories for transparency verification (GitHub, Zenodo, etc.).

Contribution: Short papers and position papers are not accepted.

Plagiarism check: All contributions submitted to TICEC 2026 will undergo a plagiarism review, including self-plagiarism. Papers containing plagiarism will be automatically rejected (desk rejection).

Authorship: Once a paper is accepted, no authors may be added beyond those listed in the EasyChair submission form when uploading the paper for its first review. Failure to comply implies rejection, even if the paper was previously accepted.

Revisions: Accepted papers must be revised according to reviewers’ comments and recommendations. It will be verified that the papers implement reviewers’ feedback.

Registration policy: Each registration allows only one author to attend and present the paper in person. Additional authors may register at the attendee price. Please review the registration page.

Publication rule: Only one paper may be presented and published per registration.

Cancellation policy: No cancellations or refunds are allowed once registration has been completed.

Transfer policy: Registrations are strictly non-transferable.

Presentation requirement: Publication of a paper is conditional upon its presentation at the conference.

During TICEC 2026, attendees and participants will witness the presentation of 2 awards, recognizing outstanding contributions in different categories:

Best Full Paper Award: Granted to the paper of highest excellence in the Technical Track.

Best Presentation Awards: In two categories:

    • Female presenter
    • Male presenter
